WHAT WE NEED:

Piping Designer (On-Site)

Sigma Engineers & Constructors is seeking an experienced Piping Designer to support ongoing projects at a client site in Donaldsonville, LA.

This role will be embedded onsite and responsible for developing piping design deliverables that support capital projects, maintenance work, and plant modifications, while ensuring compliance with refinery standards and safe work practices.

Responsibilities:

• Develop piping layouts, isometrics, and construction drawings for refinery projects
• Perform field walkdowns in active plant units to gather existing conditions and verify design requirements
• Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and client personnel to execute project scope effectively
• Design piping systems supporting process equipment, tie-ins, revamps, and brownfield modifications
• Ensure all designs comply with company standards, industry codes, and site-specific requirements
• Incorporate constructability, operability, and maintenance access into all designs
• Revise and update drawings based on field feedback and project changes
• Support Management of Change (MOC) processes and documentation requirements
• Coordinate with other disciplines (mechanical, structural, electrical, instrumentation) to ensure integrated design
• Assist with material take-offs and support procurement efforts
• Participate in design reviews, safety reviews, and project meetings
• Provide support during construction phases, including RFI responses and field troubleshooting

WHO WE NEED:

• Associate’s degree or technical certification in drafting/design (or equivalent experience)
• 5–10+ years of piping design experience in refining, petrochemical, or industrial environments
• Strong experience working onsite at refineries or similar heavy industrial facilities
• Proficiency in design software (AutoCAD, CADWorx, Plant 3D, or similar)
• Familiarity with industry codes and standards (ASME, ANSI, etc.)
