Piping Engineering (Design)

About the role

The Piping Engineer supports the engineering team in the design, development, and documentation of piping systems for oil & gas, refinery, petrochemical, and industrial projects. The role involves preparing engineering deliverables in compliance with applicable international codes, standards, project specifications, and company procedures while ensuring safety, quality, operability, and cost-effective design.

Key responsibilities

• Understand and apply applicable international codes, standards, client specifications, and project design criteria
• Prepare safe, practical, maintainable, and cost-effective piping designs
• Interpret and review engineering documents including Process Flow Diagrams (PFD), Process Data Sheets, Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams (P&ID), Civil, Structure and Mechanical drawings, Line Lists, and Fire Fighting Water (FFW) system drawings
• Develop and update Plot Plans, Isometric Drawings, Equipment Layout Drawings, Pipe Support Drawings, and Piping General Arrangement (GA) Drawings
• Perform piping routing studies to achieve optimized and constructible layouts
• Prepare engineering documentation including Material Requisitions (MR), Engineering Procedures, Technical Bid Evaluations (TBE), Material Take-Off (MTO), and Engineering Specifications
• Perform basic engineering calculations such as pipe wall thickness calculations, piping-related engineering calculations, and bolt torque calculations as assigned
• Coordinate engineering activities with other disciplines to ensure design consistency and project integration
• Participate in design reviews, interdisciplinary checks, and squad checks
• Support construction activities by providing engineering clarification and resolving technical issues during site execution

About you

• Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or an equivalent engineering discipline
• 3–5 years of experience in piping engineering
• Proficiency in 2D and 3D CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, Plant 3D, E3D, or equivalent)
• Understanding of piping engineering principles and design methodologies
• Knowledge of international piping codes and standards
• Ability to read and interpret multidisciplinary engineering drawings
• Familiarity with piping materials, components, and fabrication requirements
• Basic knowledge of engineering calculations and piping stress considerations
• Good command of Microsoft Office applications
• Analytical and problem-solving skills, effective communication skills, teamwork and collaboration, attention to detail, time management and ability to meet project deadlines, and willingness to learn and continuously improve technical knowledge
