Pit Loader Operator

Job Summary

We are seeking a motivated and safety-conscious Pit Loader Operator to join our construction team. In this vital role, you will be responsible for operating heavy machinery, including loaders and excavators, to efficiently load materials and assist with excavation and grading tasks on construction sites. Your expertise will help ensure smooth operations, adherence to safety regulations, and timely project completion. Responsibilities

• Operate loaders, excavators, backhoes, and other heavy equipment safely and efficiently to load materials and assist with excavation activities
• Conduct routine maintenance and inspections of construction machinery to ensure optimal performance and safety compliance
• Follow federal construction safety regulations and equipment safety procedures at all times during operations
• Assist with construction utility work by locating underground utilities using utility locating techniques before excavation begins
• Support construction grading activities to achieve precise elevation levels according to project specifications
• Maintain accurate records of equipment usage, maintenance schedules, and operational logs
• Collaborate with team members to coordinate material delivery and site logistics for seamless workflow

Skills

• Proven experience operating heavy construction machinery such as loaders, excavators, backhoes, and Caterpillar equipment
• Strong mechanical knowledge for troubleshooting and basic repairs of construction machinery
• Familiarity with federal construction safety regulations and adherence to safety protocols on active job sites
• Ability to perform construction utility work including utility locating and excavation preparation
• Skilled in construction site experience with a focus on grading, excavation, and site preparation tasks
• Valid commercial truck driving license with experience in commercial driving preferred
• Knowledge of equipment maintenance procedures and safety regulations for heavy equipment operation
