Pizza Kitchen Assistant

Job Summary
The Gypsy Poet is seeking a dependable and motivated Pizza Kitchen Assistant to support daily kitchen operations and pizza preparation. The ideal candidate will assist with ingredient preparation, pizza assembly, order fulfillment, kitchen organization, and sanitation while maintaining high standards of food quality and service.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist with preparing pizza dough, sauces, cheese, toppings, and other ingredients.
• Portion and organize ingredients for efficient kitchen service.
• Assist with assembling pizzas according to recipes and customer orders.
• Support cooks and pizza makers during busy service periods.
• Prepare additional menu items and basic food components as needed.
• Monitor ingredient freshness and follow proper food storage procedures.
• Restock ingredients, packaging, and kitchen supplies throughout the shift.
• Maintain clean, organized, and sanitary kitchen workstations.
• Clean and sanitize utensils, counters, equipment, and preparation areas.
• Assist with operating ovens and other kitchen equipment safely.
• Follow proper food handling and ingredient rotation procedures.
• Assist with order preparation and packaging for dine-in and takeout service.
• Support opening, closing, and routine kitchen cleanup duties.
• Report ingredient shortages, equipment concerns, or order issues to management.
• Follow food safety, sanitation, and workplace safety procedures.

Qualifications

• Previous pizza shop, restaurant, food preparation, or kitchen experience preferred.
• Basic understanding of kitchen operations and food safety practices.
• Strong attention to cleanliness, food quality, and order accuracy.
• Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced kitchen environment.
• Good communication and teamwork skills.
• Ability to follow recipes, instructions, and established procedures.
• Reliable, punctual, and willing to learn.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to stand and perform physical kitchen tasks for extended periods.
• Flexible availability, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
