What they need
About the role
Help people change their lives through meaningful employment.
At TradeUp Jobs, we believe employment changes lives. Every successful placement creates opportunities for individuals, strengthens businesses and builds stronger communities.
We’re looking for an energetic, relationship-focused Placement Manager to join our Rotorua team and help connect jobseekers with employers who are ready to invest in their future.
If you’re someone who enjoys working with people, building strong relationships and achieving results, we’d love to hear from you.
About the Role
As a Placement Manager, you’ll support jobseekers through their journey from preparation and training into sustainable employment.
You’ll work with clients to understand their skills, strengths, goals and barriers, develop career plans and prepare them for employment. You’ll then use your employer relationships and industry knowledge to connect clients with suitable opportunities, particularly across trades, construction and related industries.
You’ll also provide ongoing support after placement to help people settle into work and remain employed.
The role is both people-focused and results-driven, with a minimum expectation of five successful employment placements per month.
What You'll Be Doing
- Build strong relationships with local employers and identify genuine employment opportunities.
- Assess clients' skills, strengths, goals and barriers to employment.
- Develop individual career plans and support clients to become work ready.
- Help clients develop CVs, cover letters, job-search and interview skills.
- Identify and coordinate relevant industry-based training and pathways.
- Arrange interviews and connect suitable candidates with employers.
- Support clients through the employment process, including understanding employment agreements and preparing for their first day.
- Maintain regular contact with employers and employees after placement.
- Provide ongoing pastoral and in-work support for up to 182 days after employment.
- Maintain accurate client records and complete required reporting.
- Work collaboratively with MSD, training providers, community organisations and other referral partners.
- Achieve a minimum of five successful employment placements per month while maintaining a strong focus on sustainable outcomes.
What Success Looks Like
You'll be successful in this role when clients are moving confidently into employment, employers are receiving suitable candidates and people are staying in work.
The MSD programme is focused on helping clients move into sustainable employment, with the service providing individualised support from preparation through to employment and retention.
For the programme, employment outcomes are expected to be full-time trades-based employment and supported for up to 182 days.
About You
You’ll be someone who genuinely enjoys working with people and knows how to build trust quickly.
You’ll ideally have:
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
- Experience working with employers, businesses or community organisations.
- Experience in recruitment, employment services, sales, business development, account management or a similar role.
- Confidence working towards targets and KPIs.
- Strong organisation and time-management skills.
- A proactive, resilient and solutions-focused approach.
- A genuine passion for helping people achieve their employment goals.
- A current Full New Zealand Driver Licence.
You don't need to have worked as a Placement Manager before. We’re looking for the right person, not just the right job title.
You'll Stand Out If You Have Experience In
- Employment placement services
- Recruitment or talent acquisition
- MSD or employment programmes
- Construction, civil or trades
- Apprenticeships or vocational pathways
- Community or social services
- Employer engagement
- Sales or account management
