Why Work with Us?

At Main Roads we are committed to delivering a world-class road network and creating positive, lasting impacts for WA communities. We play a critical role in overseeing the planning, design, construction, maintenance and operations of major roads and highways across the State.

We work closely with our portfolio partners, Department of Transport and Public Transport Authority as well as local governments to support the needs of all road users across the state by providing an integrated world-class road transport network. As we continue to grow and improve, we are seeking an experienced Planning Assessment Coordinator.

About the opportunity:

Main Roads is seeking an organised, motivated, and passionate planning professional to join our Road Access and Planning team based in East Perth. This role involves managing a diverse range of planning matters and would suit someone who thrives in a collaborative environment and dynamic team. Working across government and with a broad range of internal and external stakeholders, this position is ideal for an enthusiastic professional who is committed to coaching, mentoring, and developing team members, while contributing to high-quality planning outcomes.

The successful candidate will bring sound knowledge and experience in interpreting and applying legislation, policies, procedures, and standards relevant to transport planning. You will also demonstrate:

  • Demonstrated expertise in planning, transport, road design, or traffic engineering.
  • Strong analytical, research, and problem-solving skills, with experience in applying planning systems and statutory processes.
  • Ability to lead people and manage resources effectively to deliver organisational outcomes.
  • Highly developed stakeholder engagement, communication, and interpersonal skills.

If you’re up for a challenge, ready for change, and keen to contribute, don’t delay — apply now. Candidates with a background in urban or transport planning are strongly encouraged to apply.
