Planning Engineer

About the role

We are seeking a highly organized and results-driven Planning Engineer to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for planning, developing, monitoring, and controlling project schedules to ensure construction projects are delivered on time and within established milestones. This role requires expertise in scheduling software, construction methodologies, and project progress monitoring.

Key Responsibilities

• Review project contracts, scope of work, and relevant project information to develop effective planning and scheduling strategies.

• Gather project data and create reliable construction schedules in collaboration with the project team.

• Conduct regular site inspections to monitor actual progress against the approved master schedule.

• Monitor project schedules and evaluate risk management plans to identify potential delays.

• Prepare and maintain:

  • Master Schedules (Primavera P6 and Excel)
  • Resource Loading Schedules (Manpower and Equipment)
  • Procurement Schedules
  • Submittal Schedules
  • S-Curves and project progress reports

• Develop recovery schedules and mitigation plans to address project slippages.

• Prepare, analyze, verify, and reconcile time extension claims.

• Provide recommendations to Project Managers to improve schedule performance and achieve project milestones.

• Prepare and present regular project reports for internal and external stakeholders.

• Ensure timely communication of project schedules, timelines, and deadlines to project teams and stakeholders.

• Lead and participate in project meetings to discuss progress, issues, and action plans.

• Provide guidance and on-the-job training to Project Schedulers when required.

• Collaborate closely with Project Managers to ensure project schedules are achieved.

Qualifications

Education

• Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
• PRC License is an advantage but not required.

Experience

• Minimum of 3 years of experience in Project Management or Project Scheduling, preferably in the construction industry.

Technical Skills

• Advanced proficiency in Primavera P6, Microsoft Project, and Microsoft Excel.
• Strong understanding of construction methodologies, sequencing, and scheduling practices.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).
• Ability to analyze and present complex project information to various stakeholders
