Planning Engineer

Key responsibilities

• Develop comprehensive project schedules using industry-standard planning software, incorporating all project phases from pre-construction through to completion
• Monitor and track project progress against approved schedules, identifying variances and recommending corrective actions
• Prepare and maintain detailed resource allocation plans, ensuring optimal utilisation of labour, equipment and materials
• Conduct critical path analysis and schedule risk assessments to identify potential project delays and mitigation strategies
• Liaise with project managers, site supervisors and subcontractors to gather project data and update schedules regularly
• Produce progress reports and schedule forecasts for project stakeholders and senior management
• Support procurement planning by coordinating delivery schedules with supplier timelines
• Assist in value engineering and constructability reviews to optimise project delivery methods
• Maintain and update project documentation, including baseline schedules, change orders and as-built schedules
• Contribute to lessons learned reviews and continuous improvement initiatives

What we're looking for

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management or a related discipline
• Minimum 5 years of experience as a Planning Engineer in the construction railway projects
• Proficiency in planning software such as Primavera P6, Microsoft Project or equivalent scheduling tools
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse teams
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel and PowerPoint
• Experience in large-scale infrastructure or civil engineering projects is highly desirable
