PLANNING ENGINEER

MAIN FUNCTIONS

• Develop, maintain and monitor detailed project schedules for engineering, procurement, construction, commissioning and other project activities.
• Prepare baseline schedules, execution plans, work breakdown structures (WBS) and activity networks in accordance with project requirements.
• Coordinate with engineering, procurement, construction, commissioning, contracts and project controls teams to establish realistic activity durations and logic.
• Monitor actual progress against approved schedules and identify delays, critical activities and potential schedule risks.
• Prepare weekly and monthly progress updates, schedule reports, dashboards and performance analysis for project management.
• Develop and maintain Level 1, Level 2, Level 3 and Level 4 schedules as required by project complexity.
• Perform critical path analysis and identify activities that may affect key project milestones.
• Track engineering deliverables, procurement activities, material deliveries, construction work fronts and commissioning milestones.
• Collect progress information from discipline engineers, construction supervisors, contractors and subcontractors and validate reported progress.
• Develop recovery and mitigation schedules for delayed activities and monitor implementation of corrective actions.
• Prepare look-ahead schedules, short-term plans and work-front requirements to support efficient project execution.
• Analyse schedule performance using planned versus actual progress, earned value and other project controls techniques.
• Maintain schedule integrity, activity relationships, calendars, constraints, resources and progress data within the project planning system.
• Support manpower, equipment and resource planning to ensure availability aligns with project execution requirements.
• Monitor contractor and subcontractor schedules and assess their performance against contractual milestones.
• Review contractor schedule submissions, updates, recovery plans and schedule narratives.
• Identify schedule risks, trends and potential impacts on cost, resources and project completion dates.
• Participate in progress meetings and provide technical input on schedule status, delays, constraints and recovery actions.
• Ensure approved changes, variations and scope modifications are properly incorporated into the project schedule.
• Maintain accurate planning records and provide schedule information required for project reporting and management decisions.
• Ensure planning activities comply with company procedures, project controls standards and applicable HSE requirements.

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

• B.Sc./B.Eng. in Engineering, Construction Management, Project Management or a related discipline.
• 5–10 years of relevant planning/scheduling experience, preferably in oil & gas, EPC, construction, offshore or major industrial projects.
• Strong experience with Primavera P6 and/or Microsoft Project.
• Knowledge of project planning, scheduling, progress measurement and project controls.
• Experience developing and maintaining multidisciplinary engineering, procurement and construction schedules.
• Good understanding of critical path, float, baseline management, schedule forecasting and delay analysis.
• Experience with contractor/subcontractor schedule management is an advantage.
• Strong analytical, reporting, communication and coordination skills.

Pay: ₦140,000.00 - ₦240,000.00 per day
