About the Role
A growing energy business working across the UK battery storage and energy infrastructure market is looking for a Planning Lead to support its growing portfolio of projects.
Based in Liverpool, this is a great opportunity to join a business playing a part in the UK's energy transition. Most projects have already secured planning consent, so the focus will be on discharging planning conditions, securing amendments and keeping projects moving forward.
You'll work closely with internal teams, planning consultants and local authorities, helping to manage planning requirements and resolve any issues along the way. Energy sector experience would be a bonus, but candidates from planning consultancies, local authorities or other development backgrounds are also encouraged to apply.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage planning conditions and secure planning amendments across development projects.
- Work with local authorities, planning consultants and other external stakeholders.
- Lead meetings and keep the wider team updated on progress, risks and potential issues.
- Identify planning challenges and work with the team to find solutions.
- Build strong relationships with internal teams and external stakeholders.
- Manage multiple planning workstreams and make sure actions are followed through.
About You
You're a confident and organised planning professional who enjoys working with people and taking ownership of projects. You're comfortable leading meetings, managing external relationships and communicating planning matters clearly to the wider team.
You'll be proactive, able to manage competing priorities and confident raising potential risks before they become bigger issues. Experience in the energy sector would be great, but it's not essential if you have the right planning experience.
Essential Experience & Qualifications
- Around 2–5 years' experience in planning or a related role.
- Experience dealing with planning conditions, amendments or development planning.
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Confidence leading meetings and working with external stakeholders.
- Good organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects.
Desirable:
- Experience within an energy developer, planning consultancy or local authority.
- Understanding of energy infrastructure or battery storage projects.
- A relevant planning qualification.
Role: Planning Lead
Location: Liverpool (Hybrid)
Salary: £35,000–£45,000, depending on experience
