Planning PPC Engineer Spiral Rolling Mill

Role & responsibilities:

• Production Scheduling: Formulate daily, weekly, and monthly master production schedules (MPS) tailored to mill capacity and raw material availability.
• Raw Material Planning: Monitor Hot Rolled (HR) coil inventory, calculate steel strip width/thickness needs based on pipe diameter, and coordinate with procurement.
• Changeover Optimization: Plan rolling campaigns strategically to minimize line stoppage times for mill forming-angle adjustments and welding head setups.
• Shop Floor Control: Track actual production metrics (forming speed, welding yields, tonnage) against planned targets, immediately flagging bottlenecks.
• Downtime & Maintenance Alignment: Partner with maintenance teams to schedule planned shutdowns for roll replacements, tooling changes, and machinery overhauls.
• Reporting & MIS: Generate key performance indicators (KPIs) such as Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE), material yield, and schedule adherence dashboards.

Preferred candidate profile :

• Bachelors Degree / Diploma in Mechanical, Production, or Metallurgy Engineering.
• 5 10 years of Production Planning and Control (PPC) experience directly within a steel rolling mill, HSAW/ERW pipe plant, or heavy steel fabrication environment.
• Deep understanding of spiral tube forming mechanics, welding process times (SAW), and pipe manufacturing standards (e.g., API 5L, ASTM, IS).
• Analytical problem-solving, strong communication, and the ability to handle dynamic shifts in order priorities.
• Experience in Primavera P6 and MS Project will be preferred.
