What they need
About Us
RWB Utilities is an established utilities infrastructure contractor specialising in the delivery of essential gas infrastructure projects. Operating within a fast-paced and demanding industry, we provide services that support the maintenance and development of vital utility networks.
We pride ourselves on delivering high standards of service, safety and professionalism, supported by a committed and experienced team.
About the Role
We are looking for a practical, organised and proactive Plant & Yard Coordinator to take responsibility for the day-to-day organisation and smooth running of our yard, plant, equipment and stores facilities.
The working hours are 45 hours per week, Monday to Friday - 6.30 am - 4.30 pm with one hour for lunch.
This is a varied, hands-on role that plays an important part in keeping our utilities operations running efficiently. From ensuring plant and equipment are available when needed to maintaining stock levels, coordinating servicing and keeping the yard safe and organised, you'll be at the heart of supporting our operational teams.
We're looking for someone who takes pride in maintaining a well-run working environment, enjoys being hands-on and has the initiative to spot potential problems before they become bigger issues.
You'll work closely with the operations manager, supervisors, field operatives and suppliers to ensure our teams have the equipment, materials and supplies they need to get the job done.
What You'll Be Doing
No two days will be quite the same. You'll have responsibility for keeping the yard organised, equipment accounted for and operational teams supported.
Your key responsibilities will include:
- Keeping the yard running smoothly: Taking ownership of the day-to-day organisation, cleanliness and general upkeep of the yard, stores and associated buildings, ensuring they remain safe, tidy and well maintained.
- Coordinating plant and equipment: Managing the issue, return and storage of plant, machinery, tools and equipment, ensuring items are accounted for, correctly recorded and available when needed.
- Managing stock and supplies: Monitoring stock levels, maintaining accurate records and coordinating the replenishment of PPE, consumables, tools and other operational supplies.
- Supporting operational teams: Working closely with supervisors and field operatives to ensure plant, equipment and materials are ready and available for planned works.
- Overseeing servicing and maintenance: Monitoring equipment inspection and servicing dates, coordinating routine maintenance and repairs, and ensuring defective equipment is identified and reported.
- Maintaining a safe working environment: Carrying out routine yard checks, identifying potential hazards and ensuring safe storage, housekeeping and site procedures are followed.
- Managing deliveries and collections: Receiving and checking deliveries, reporting discrepancies and ensuring materials and equipment are stored safely and in the correct locations.
- Keeping accurate records: Maintaining plant registers, stock records, equipment issue logs and maintenance documentation, ensuring information is accurate and up to date.
- Identifying opportunities for improvement: Taking a proactive approach to improving yard organisation, stock control, equipment availability and day-to-day operational efficiency.
What We're Looking For
We're looking for someone who enjoys being organised, takes pride in their working environment and understands the importance of having the right equipment and supplies available at the right time.
You'll be practical, dependable and comfortable working in a busy operational environment where priorities can change throughout the day. You'll have the confidence to deal with day-to-day issues, communicate effectively with colleagues and take the initiative to keep things running smoothly.
To be successful in this role, you'll need:
- Previous experience working in a plant, yard, stores, warehouse, construction, utilities or similar operational environment.
- Good organisational skills, with the ability to maintain a tidy, orderly and well-managed working environment.
- An understanding of workplace health and safety requirements, including safe equipment and material storage.
- Experience monitoring stock levels, maintaining records and keeping track of supplies and equipment.
- Good communication skills and the ability to work effectively with operational teams, colleagues and suppliers.
- Basic IT skills, including Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel.
- A practical, hands-on approach, with the ability to manage competing priorities and respond to changing operational needs.
- Strong attention to detail, reliability and the initiative to identify and address day-to-day issues.
- The ability to recognise and report hazards, defects and equipment concerns promptly.
It would also be advantageous if you have:
- Previous experience working within the utilities, civil engineering, infrastructure or construction sectors.
- Experience coordinating plant, machinery, tools and equipment.
- Familiarity with plant maintenance schedules, inspection records and equipment registers.
- Experience issuing PPE, consumables and materials to operational teams.
- Relevant health and safety training.
- Experience using stock control or plant management systems.
- Relevant plant or equipment awareness training.
- A full UK driving licence, if required for the role.
