Plant Controller

We are partnering with an established manufacturing organization in the Marietta, Ohio area seeking a hands-on Plant Controller to lead accounting and financial operations at the facility.

The Plant Controller will serve as a key financial partner to operational leadership, providing financial visibility, strengthening internal processes, and supporting strategic decision-making. This individual will play an important role in building a strong accounting foundation while identifying opportunities to improve profitability and operational efficiency.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee day-to-day accounting and financial activities for the manufacturing facility.
• Lead month-end and year-end closing processes, ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting.
• Manage plant-level budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning.
• Analyze manufacturing costs, including labor, materials, overhead, and production variances.
• Partner closely with plant management to evaluate operational performance, profitability, and cost-saving opportunities.
• Monitor inventory, cost of goods sold, and inventory valuation processes.
• Prepare and present financial statements, management reports, and key performance indicators (KPIs).
• Support capital expenditure planning, fixed asset accounting, and investment analysis.
• Establish and improve accounting procedures, internal controls, and reporting processes.
• Ensure compliance with GAAP and company accounting policies.
• Assist with financial audits and other corporate reporting requirements.
• Identify opportunities for process improvements, efficiencies, and stronger financial controls.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• Progressive accounting experience, preferably within a manufacturing environment.
• Strong understanding of cost accounting, inventory, standard costing, and manufacturing variances.
• Experience with month-end close, financial reporting, budgeting, and forecasting.
• Ability to work collaboratively with plant operations and senior leadership.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
• Proficiency in ERP systems and Microsoft Excel.
• Demonstrated ability to take ownership, work independently, and improve existing processes.

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous experience as a Plant Controller, Assistant Controller, Accounting Manager, or Senior Cost Accountant.
• CPA or CMA designation.
• Experience supporting a manufacturing facility in a hands-on financial leadership capacity.
• Background implementing or improving accounting systems, controls, and reporting procedures.
