What they need

Imagine Your Day

You start your morning partnering with plant engineering, maintenance, and department colleagues to align on capital equipment installs, maintenance priorities, and troubleshooting plans. After a safety and project huddle, you head to the field to capture precise measurements in a chemical plant setting—sometimes donning PPE such as a respirator, fall arrest harness, gloves, chemical suit, and hearing protection. Confined-space entry or work at heights may occasionally be part of the assignment.

Back at your workstation, you translate observations into production-ready drawings: layouts, P&ID's, process flow diagrams, piping, structural, electrical, fabrication, and installation packages. You generate print plots, copy prints, and clean PDFs. You run beam calculations, shape deck designs, and ensure your work reflects OSHA requirements for construction, ladders, railings, decks, piping, electrical, and ASME pressure vessels.

In the afternoon, you review vendor equipment drawings, compile material lists, request quotes, submit purchase requisitions, and track materials through to delivery. You archive prints and lists so the plant can easily retrieve them later. When needed, you create flat patterns and part drawings to support maintenance and lend a hand to GTP with graphic art for SEA and plant initiatives. You work independently with limited supervision, stepping into any other tasks GTP deems important.
