Walnut Capital is seeking a motivated Plant Maintenance Technician for The Washington at Chatham, a residential property with an on-site steam plant. This role requires flexibility to work day, evening, overnight, weekend, and holiday shifts as part of a rotating schedule.

Position Overview

As a Plant Maintenance Technician, you'll provide core electrical and mechanical support for the property's steam plant and building utility systems. You'll install, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain equipment such as motors and drives, low-voltage control/distribution systems, and boilers — helping keep essential building systems running safely and reliably for residents.

Responsibilities

• Install, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain plant and building equipment, including motors, drives, and low-voltage control/distribution systems
• Operate and maintain boilers to ensure safe, efficient, and continuous operation
• Perform mechanical (non-electrical) repairs on equipment such as pneumatic devices, air handlers, vacuum systems, pressurized gas and hydronic water systems, pumps, blowers, compressors, cooling towers, and DI/RO water systems
• Conduct preventive maintenance to ensure optimal equipment performance and minimize downtime
• Respond promptly to equipment breakdowns and complete repairs to restore functionality
• Perform routine inspections to identify potential issues and take corrective action
• Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, including work orders, repairs, and equipment performance
• Comply with all safety regulations and procedures
• Collaborate with team members to resolve technical issues and improve equipment reliability

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; technical certifications or vocational training a plus
• Experience in plant maintenance or a similar role with a focus on electrical/mechanical systems preferred, but not required
• Ability to troubleshoot and repair electrical and mechanical issues
• Familiarity with preventive maintenance practices
• Strong attention to detail and ability to work with precision
• Good problem-solving skills and ability to work well under pressure
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Boiler operating license a plus, but not required
