What they need
Plant Quality & Environment Coordinator
Waikato Region
Quality | Laboratory | Environmental | Process Improvement
Axxion Search is partnering with a well-established international manufacturing organisation to recruit a Plant Quality & Environment Coordinator for its operation in the Waikato region.
This is a hands-on site-based position with responsibility across quality, laboratory operations, environmental systems and continuous improvement. It would suit someone with a strong laboratory or quality background who is ready to broaden their responsibilities across quality, environment and plant performance.
Reporting directly to the Plant Manager, you will work closely with Production, Maintenance, Quality, Sustainability and other operational stakeholders.
The role
Your responsibilities will include:
- Managing and continually improving the site's Quality and Environmental Management Systems.
- Ensuring finished products meet required specifications and customer requirements.
- Coordinating laboratory testing, sampling and external testing requirements.
- Maintaining and coordinating calibration of laboratory equipment.
- Investigating product non-conformances and customer complaints.
- Managing quality documentation, sample retention and LIMS.
- Supporting ISO 9001 and other relevant certification and audit requirements.
- Monitoring and reporting quality, environmental and process KPIs.
- Supporting environmental compliance and improvement initiatives.
- Analysing production processes and identifying opportunities to improve quality, performance and cost.
- Working with operational teams to investigate process issues and implement practical improvements.
The position is broader than a traditional laboratory role, with genuine involvement across plant quality, environmental performance and continuous improvement.
About you
We are particularly interested in candidates who have:
- A tertiary qualification in science, engineering or another relevant STEM discipline.
- Around 3–5 years' experience in laboratory testing, quality or a related technical function within manufacturing or processing.
- Exposure to Quality Management Systems.
- Good analytical skills and confidence interpreting data and investigating problems.
- Experience with laboratory equipment, testing and calibration.
- Strong computer skills, particularly Excel and data analysis.
- An understanding of Quality and Environmental Management Systems.
- The ability to work independently and build effective relationships across operational teams.
Previous Quality Management experience would be advantageous but is not essential.
The opportunity
This role would suit someone who has developed solid technical experience in laboratory, QA or quality systems and is looking for broader exposure within a manufacturing environment.
You will work closely with senior site leadership and across a range of operational functions, giving you exposure to quality systems, environmental management, process improvement and wider plant performance.
To apply, please submit your CV via SEEK. All applications will be treated in strict confidence.
