Surgery Coordinator – San Diego Eye & Face | Solana Beach, CA

I'm Dr. Kellie Satterfield, a board-certified ophthalmologist and fellowship-trained oculofacial plastic surgeon. I'm hiring an experienced Cosmetic Surgery Coordinator for my practice, San Diego Eye & Face.

This is a concierge role with real upside. You'll own the surgical patient experience from the first consultation through final follow-up: converting consults, coordinating surgery, and making sure every patient feels guided and cared for at each step. Our front office team handles general scheduling and administration, so your focus is surgical patients. You'll earn a monthly bonus for the surgical growth you drive.

This is not an entry-level role. We're looking for an experienced coordinator who is naturally warm and socially confident, is motivated by goals, and can operate independently from day one.

Requirements

• 2+ years as a surgery coordinator or patient care coordinator in plastic surgery, facial plastics, oculoplastics, or dermatologic surgery
• A track record of converting consultations to booked cosmetic procedures. You know your numbers.
• Exceptional interpersonal skills: builds rapport quickly, reads people well, and puts patients at ease
• Comfortable presenting surgical quotes and discussing pricing and financing
• Excellent written and verbal communication, including professional email and grammar
• Highly organized; manages many patients at different stages at once
• Proactive, driven, and self-directed: follows through without reminders and closes loops

Preferred

• Supervisory or management experience
• Experience with a high-end or luxury clientele
• Familiarity with EMR/practice management systems, surgical scheduling, and patient financing (e.g., CareCredit)
• Experience with Medicare or insurance-based surgical cases

What You'll Do

Surgical Coordination

• Manage the full surgical process from consultation to recovery
• Present cosmetic and reconstructive surgery quotes and financing options
• Explain logistics, timelines, pre-op requirements, and expected downtime
• Coordinate OR availability, surgical blocks, and the surgical calendar
• Prepare and send surgery packets, instructions, prescriptions, and consent forms
• Make sure clearances, documentation, and pre-op photos are complete before surgery

Concierge Patient Care and Follow-Up

• Serve as the primary point of contact for all surgical patients
• Follow up with consults who haven't yet booked, with thoughtful, timely outreach
• Guide hesitant or anxious patients with clarity and empathy
• Provide pre- and post-operative guidance and stay in touch through recovery

Physician and Clinic Support

• Work closely with Dr. Satterfield to keep surgical consults on schedule
• Prepare consultation rooms and materials for cosmetic consults
• Support the front office during busy periods

Practice Growth

• Help with patient reviews, referral relationships, and community outreach
• Represent the practice's brand in every patient interaction

Compensation and Benefits

• Pay: $30–$36/hour (non-exempt), based on experience
• Bonus: uncapped monthly bonus for cosmetic surgical cases above a monthly baseline
• Schedule: 40 hours/week, Monday–Friday, on-site in Solana Beach. Core hours are 8:30 AM–5:30 PM
• Paid time off: combined PTO/paid sick leave that accrues with hours worked (80 hours/year at full-time)
• Practice closed on 10 holidays: MLK Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving, Black Friday, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year's Eve, and New Year's Day
