Plates Applications Specialist - Remote from the Midwestern US

Mission of the role & responsibilities

This customer-facing role will provide technical support and applications expertise related to flexographic printing plates, plate processing, prepress workflows, and print-quality optimization. The Applications Specialist will work directly with customers to troubleshoot plate and print-performance challenges, improve processes, conduct trials, and provide technical training that helps customers achieve consistent, high-quality results.

• Provide on-site and remote technical support related to flexographic printing plates, plate processing, and plate-room workflows
• Troubleshoot plate-making prepress, and print-quality issues and recommend practical corrective actions
• Support customer plate trials, product evaluations, and qualification activities
• Assist customers in optimizing plate production processes, operating parameters, quality controls, and best practices
• Train customers and relevant internal teams on plate technologies, applications, handling, storage, processing, and performance
• Evaluate application results and help identify opportunities to improve consistency, productivity, and print quality
• Document customer visits, trials, technical findings, recommendations, and follow-up actions
• Partner with Sales to support customer demonstrations, technical discussions, product introductions, and business-development opportunities
• Collaborate with Product Management, R&D, Sales, Customer Service, and other technical teams to address customer needs and share field insights
• Communicate recurring application issues, customer feedback, and market needs to appropriate internal stakeholders
• Maintain current knowledge of flexographic plate technologies, plate-making processes, prepress developments, and industry best practices
• Represent XSYS professionally at customer locations, industry events, technical meetings, and training sessions

Required qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in printing, graphic communications, packaging, engineering, or a related technical field or equivalent relevant industry experience
• 5+ Years within the field of Flexographic printing, with a strong focus on technical service or applications support
• Strong working knowledge of flexographic printing plates and plate-processing workflows
• Experience Troubleshooting plate-production and print-performance issues
• Understanding of key flexographic variables, including plate selection, imaging, exposure processing, mounting, anilox selection, ink transfer, and print conditions
• Ability to analyze technical issues, identify potential root causes, and communicate clear recommendations
• Strong customer-service presentation, training and interpersonal skills
• Ability to work independently, manage multiple customer priorities, and collaborate effectively across functions
• Strong written communication and technical documentation skills
• Willingness and ability to travel extensively throughout the US and Canada, with occasional travel overseas
• Valid driver’s license and ability to meet applicable travel requirements
