Platform & Developer Experience Lead

Location: Prague

Working Arrangement: 2 days onsite / 3 days remote

Salary: 140,000 - 170,000 CZK per month (gross)

Contract: Permanent

We are looking for a Platform & Developer Experience Lead to shape and improve how software development is carried out across a large, decentralised organisation.

This is a strategic and highly collaborative role sitting between software engineering, DevOps, platform engineering and senior stakeholders. You will assess how development is currently being done across different teams and platforms, identify challenges and inefficiencies, and define practical recommendations that make developers more effective.

You will need to come from a strong software development or engineering background and be comfortable engaging with developers at a technical level, while also representing the function with senior leadership and at board level.

The role

You will take ownership of the organisation's developer experience and software development direction, helping create greater consistency and efficiency without imposing unnecessary centralisation.

Key responsibilities will include:

• Map and understand how software development is currently carried out across the organisation.
• Identify common developer challenges, friction points, duplication and opportunities to improve efficiency.
• Assess different development platforms, technologies, tooling and services available in the market.
• Develop recommendations around technology direction, development practices and platforms.
• Build and maintain a library of products, platforms and services that can make developers' lives easier.
• Establish and promote practical standards, tooling and "golden paths" where appropriate.
• Work closely with engineering and DevOps teams to understand their needs and ensure recommendations work in practice.
• Build strong relationships with stakeholders across a highly decentralised and horizontal organisation.
• Lead and develop a small team, including a community-focused resource responsible for building and engaging the wider development network.
• Lead the DevOps / engineering community, encouraging knowledge sharing and collaboration across teams.
• Represent the function at senior leadership and board level.
• Define appropriate KPIs, SLAs and success measures around development performance, developer experience and service delivery.
• Track adoption, outcomes and value delivered, continually refining the approach based on feedback.
• Identify opportunities to reduce costs while improving developer productivity and the quality of engineering services.
• Act as a trusted advisor to senior stakeholders on software development, DevOps and developer enablement.

What we're looking for

We are particularly interested in candidates who have progressed from a hands-on software development or engineering background into technical leadership, platform, DevOps, product or developer experience roles.

You should have:

• Strong professional background in software development / software engineering.
• Experience working with DevOps, platform engineering or developer tooling.
• Strong understanding of the challenges faced by modern development teams.
• Experience operating across multiple teams, platforms and technologies.
• Excellent stakeholder management and influencing skills.
• Experience working within a decentralised, federated or highly matrixed organisation.
• Ability to translate technical challenges into business cases, recommendations and measurable outcomes.
• Experience influencing senior leadership and communicating with non-technical stakeholders.
• Experience leading, mentoring or managing engineers and/or technical specialists.
• Strong commercial mindset, with an ability to identify opportunities for cost optimisation and efficiency.
• Experience establishing communities, standards, frameworks or Centres of Excellence is highly valuable.
• Familiarity with modern development platforms, CI/CD, cloud-native technologies and DevSecOps.
• Experience evaluating technology products and services and making recommendations on technology direction.

The role is ultimately technology-agnostic - we're more interested in your ability to understand engineering challenges and evaluate the right solutions than a specific technology stack.
