Platform Architect

For our client, we are seeking a Platform Architect to join the team of a leader in the Education, Government & Non-Profit space.

This role will shape the architectural direction for a cloud-based platform, guiding technical decisions that support scalable, highly available products used across education and public-sector environments.

You will partner closely with engineering leadership and cross-functional stakeholders to translate business needs into sound technical designs and resilient solutions.

The position combines hands-on technical depth with architectural leadership, mentorship, and continuous improvement across the development lifecycle.

Location: Remote - US based candidates only, no visa sponsorship available

Compensation: $150,000 – $180,000 annually

Responsibilities

• Lead the architectural design and technical direction for platform product features, ensuring alignment with business strategy
• Drive the development of complex software solutions, writing high-quality and maintainable code
• Provide technical leadership and mentorship to engineering teams, fostering best software development practices
• Collaborate with engineering managers and other stakeholders to translate requirements into technical specifications
• Identify and evaluate new technologies to improve development processes and product capabilities
• Conduct thorough code reviews and ensure adherence to coding standards
• Troubleshoot complex technical issues and perform root cause analysis

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience
• 10+ years of progressive experience in software development, with at least 3 years in a lead or principal engineering role
• Deep expertise in designing, building, and scaling complex, highly available, distributed systems
• Proficiency in multiple programming languages, such as Ruby, Python, Java, JavaScript, or Go, and familiarity with modern web frameworks
• Extensive experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP, and containerization technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes
• Strong understanding of database systems, including relational and NoSQL databases, and data modeling principles
• Demonstrated ability to drive technical initiatives from conception to deployment and maintenance
