Job Summary

Client is seeking a highly experienced Senior ServiceNow Platform Architect to assess business and technical requirements across multiple government agencies and recommend the appropriate ServiceNow modules, capabilities, and platform architecture.

The state operates a shared ServiceNow instance with multiple agency-specific domains, where data and access are isolated between agencies. The architect will evaluate the existing platform, assess agency requirements, recommend scalable solutions, and establish technical standards, security controls, and governance practices.

The ideal candidate will have extensive ServiceNow architecture experience, strong hands-on technical expertise, and demonstrated experience designing and supporting complex, domain-separated, multi-agency or multi-tenant ServiceNow environments.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assess business and technical requirements across government agencies and recommend suitable ServiceNow modules and out-of-the-box capabilities.
  • Define the target-state ServiceNow architecture, platform strategy, environment topology, and governance standards.
  • Design and govern domain separation, including domain hierarchy, data isolation, access controls, and delegated administration.
  • Architect solutions across ITSM, ITOM, CSM, HRSD, SecOps, and custom ServiceNow applications.
  • Establish CMDB architecture and align configuration management practices with the Common Service Data Model (CSDM).
  • Design integrations using REST, SOAP, IntegrationHub, MID Server, Import Sets, and secure API patterns.
  • Establish development standards, scripting guidelines, source control practices, code reviews, and release management procedures.
  • Define automated testing strategies using the Automated Test Framework (ATF).
  • Lead platform upgrades, assess customization impacts, manage technical debt, and improve platform stability and performance.
  • Design security controls using roles, access control lists (ACLs), domain separation, and appropriate data access policies.
  • Evaluate emerging ServiceNow capabilities, including Now Assist, generative AI, and agentic AI features.
  • Prepare architecture diagrams, technical design documents, implementation roadmaps, and level-of-effort estimates.
  • Collaborate with agency stakeholders, process owners, developers, administrators, and leadership to deliver sustainable solutions.
  • Mentor technical teams, conduct architecture reviews, and serve as the primary technical escalation point.

Required Qualifications

  • 8+ years of overall IT experience, including at least 5 years of hands-on ServiceNow development, implementation, or architecture experience.
  • Proven experience designing ServiceNow solutions across multiple modules and business workflows.
  • Strong hands-on experience with ServiceNow domain separation in complex, multi-tenant or multi-entity environments.
  • Advanced JavaScript and ServiceNow scripting experience, including Business Rules, Script Includes, Client Scripts, UI Policies, Flow Designer, GlideRecord, and GlideAjax.
  • Experience with REST/SOAP integrations, OAuth, MID Server, and IntegrationHub.
  • Strong understanding of CMDB, CSDM, Discovery, and Service Graph Connectors.
  • Experience leading at least two ServiceNow platform upgrades.
  • Knowledge of platform security, access controls, performance optimization, and technical governance.
  • Ability to develop architecture documentation and communicate technical recommendations to business and executive stakeholders.
  • ServiceNow Certified System Administrator (CSA), Certified Application Developer (CAD), and at least one Certified Implementation Specialist (CIS) certification.
  • Willingness and ability to work onsite in Columbus, Ohio, 30–40 hours per week for at least six months.

Preferred Qualifications

  • ServiceNow Certified Technical Architect (CTA), Certified Master Architect (CMA), or progress toward either certification.
  • Additional CIS certifications in ITSM, ITOM/Discovery, CSM, HRSD, SecOps, or Service Mapping.
  • Experience with Now Assist, Virtual Agent, Service Portal, Employee Center, and custom widget development.
  • Familiarity with Agile/Scrum, SAFe, Git, and source control integration.
  • Consulting or ServiceNow implementation partner experience across multiple clients.
