Platform / DevOps Engineer — Windows Server

API Connects is a New Zealand-owned and managed consulting firm headquartered in Auckland. We help organisations with integration, DevOps, cloud, data and AI automation, and full-stack development.

We're looking for a Platform/DevOps Engineer for one of our clients. You'll work alongside their existing development team to design and implement a configuration management capability used to deploy application updates, files and assets out to colocated hosting servers.

This is a hands-on build, not a maintenance seat — you'll be shaping how deployments work, then implementing it.

What you'll do

• Design and implement a configuration management and deployment solution for a Windows Server estate
• Automate the packaging and release of customer updates, files and assets to colocated hosting infrastructure
• Build and improve CI/CD pipelines supporting the release process
• Work with the in-house dev team to fit the solution to their existing build and release practices
• Document the setup so the team can run and extend it after handover

What we're looking for

• 5+ years' overall IT experience, with a strong DevOps / platform engineering background
• 2+ years of that working hands-on with Windows Server in production
• Solid CI/CD experience — Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions, TeamCity, Jenkins or similar
• Practical experience with configuration management or deployment tooling — Ansible, Chef, Puppet, DSC, Octopus Deploy, Chocolatey or equivalent
• Strong scripting, particularly PowerShell
• Comfortable working with colocated / on-premise infrastructure, not just cloud
• Able to work independently, ask good questions and make pragmatic recommendations
• Must have the right to work in New Zealand

Nice to have

• Experience releasing software to multiple customer environments
• IIS, Windows networking and server hardening
• Infrastructure as code (Terraform, Bicep)

Pay: $70,200.00 – $90,000.00 per year
