Platform Engineer

Job Summary:

We are seeking a Platform Engineer with strong Linux systems administration experience to design, implement, maintain, and optimize our enterprise infrastructure. In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring the reliability, security, and performance of Linux-based platforms while supporting automation, monitoring, and continuous improvement initiatives. You will collaborate with infrastructure, networking, security, and application teams to deliver highly available and scalable services.

Key Responsibilities:

• Administer, maintain, and troubleshoot Linux servers in physical, virtual, and cloud environments.
• Install, configure, patch, and upgrade Linux operating systems and related software.
• Monitor system health, performance, and availability, proactively identifying and resolving issues.
• Implement and maintain system automation using scripting languages such as Bash or Python.
• Manage user accounts, permissions, file systems, and storage.
• Configure and support web servers, application servers, and other platform services.
• Perform system backups, disaster recovery testing, and restoration activities.
• Implement security hardening, vulnerability remediation, and compliance best practices.
• Collaborate with DevOps, networking, and security teams to improve infrastructure reliability.
• Support incident response, root cause analysis, and problem management activities.
• Create and maintain technical documentation, operational procedures, and system diagrams.
• Participate in on-call support and planned maintenance activities as required.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• 3+ years of experience in Linux systems administration or platform engineering.
• Strong experience administering enterprise Linux distributions such as Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL), Rocky Linux, Ubuntu, or SUSE.
• Solid understanding of Linux services, system processes, networking, and storage management.
• Experience with shell scripting (Bash) and/or Python for automation.
• Knowledge of virtualization technologies such as VMware or Hyper-V.
• Experience with system monitoring and logging tools.
• Strong understanding of TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, SSH, firewalls, and networking fundamentals.
• Experience with patch management, system security, and vulnerability remediation.
• Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
