Platform Engineer

Our client in the public sector is looking for an experienced Platform Engineer to join its Digital and Technology team on a permanent role

Responsibilities

• Lead platform architecture and infrastructure as code practices across complex enterprise environments
• Design and optimise CI/CD and GitOps delivery pipelines to improve deployment reliability, security, and speed
• Mentor engineers, provide third-level technical support, and champion continuous improvement across Digital and Technology teams

Requirements

• Significant experience in platform engineering, cloud infrastructure, or DevOps roles within complex enterprise environments
• Strong hands-on expertise with infrastructure as code tools such as Terraform, OpenTofu, or Ansible, and deep knowledge of container platforms including Docker, Kubernetes, and OpenShift
• Proven experience designing and supporting CI/CD and GitOps pipelines using tools such as Jenkins, Tekton, or Argo CD
• Solid understanding of secure engineering practices, access control, secrets management, and platform governance, with strong Linux and platform operations knowledge
• Excellent communication and mentoring skills, with the ability to influence engineering practice and collaborate across technical and non-technical audiences

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a relevant technology field, or equivalent practical experience in platform engineering or DevOps
• Demonstrated experience with observability, monitoring, and logging practices in production environments
• Proficiency with Git and version control practices, and experience supporting on-call technical operations on a rostered basis
