Platform Engineer, Investment Manager, London [Onsite]

A highly collaborative investment manager is seeking a Platform Engineer to join its lean engineering team. The firm is investing significantly in its quant and technology capabilities, with a focus on building the infrastructure, data and compute platforms that support research and trading.

Working closely with researchers, developers and the wider investment business, you'll help shape and scale the capabilities that underpin quantitative research, data processing and model development. The environment is highly autonomous, with engineers given significant ownership and the opportunity to influence both technical direction and platform design. Rather than joining a large, specialised function, you'll play a broad role across infrastructure, compute, data and platform engineering as the firm's technology capabilities continue to evolve.

Responsibilities:

• Build and scale the infrastructure, compute and platform capabilities that support quantitative research and trading.
• Develop and maintain Kubernetes-based environments, automation tooling and core platform services.
• Improve data and research workflows, helping researchers access data, run workloads and operate more efficiently.
• Contribute to decisions around cloud, on-premise and distributed compute infrastructure.
• Work closely with engineers, quants and portfolio managers to deliver scalable technical solutions.

Requirements:

• Strong background in Platform Engineering, Infrastructure Engineering, DevOps or a related discipline (approx. around 4-8 years' experience).
• Experience with Linux, cloud infrastructure and modern automation practices.
• Exposure to technologies such as Kubernetes, Airflow, Spark, Kafka or similar distributed systems.
• Comfortable operating in lean, high-performance engineering environments with a high degree of autonomy.
• Previous experience within a hedge fund, prop trading firm or similarly data-driven technology environment would be advantageous.
