We are seeking an experienced Analytics Platform Engineer to administer, govern and optimise our Microsoft Fabric and Azure Databricks platforms. Working closely with Analytics Architects, you will be responsible for implementing governance controls, managing platform access, monitoring platform health and costs and enabling the safe adoption of analytics and AI capabilities across the organisation.

Key Responsibilities

• Administer and govern Microsoft Fabric and Azure Databricks platforms, ensuring compliance with architecture, security and governance standards.
• Implement and maintain platform controls, monitoring and audit capabilities under the direction of Analytics Architects.
• Manage Fabric capacity, including F-SKU utilisation, workload monitoring, capacity optimisation and performance management.
• Monitor platform consumption, costs and utilisation, performing "fair use" analysis and identifying opportunities to improve efficiency and reduce spend.
• Support controlled rollout of platform features and capabilities.
• Provision and govern workspaces, sandboxes and development environments.
• Create and manage Entra ID groups, permissions, access controls and packages.
• Develop monitoring, alerting and reporting to support platform operations and governance.
• Investigate platform issues and work with engineering and operational teams to drive resolution.
• Produce regular reporting on platform health, usage, governance compliance and cost trends.

Required Skills

• Proven hands-on administration experience with Microsoft Fabric in an enterprise environment.
• Proven hands-on administration experience with Azure Databricks in an enterprise environment.
• Strong SQL and Python skills, with experience querying platform metadata, system tables, audit logs and APIs to analyse platform usage, investigate issues, automate administration tasks and produce governance, cost and operational insights.
• Experience managing Fabric F-SKU capacities, including monitoring utilisation, performance tuning and cost optimisation.
• Experience implementing platform governance, security controls and access management.
• Strong understanding of Microsoft Entra ID, role-based access control and enterprise access management.
• Experience monitoring cloud platform consumption, capacity and costs.
• Experience provisioning and governing workspaces, environments and user access.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret platform usage and cost data.

Good to Have

• FinOps or cloud cost management practices.
• Azure Monitor, Log Analytics or similar monitoring tools.
• Experience supporting analytics, data or AI platforms at enterprise scale.
• Microsoft Fabric, Databricks or Azure certifications.
