Platform Engineering Lead

Role & responsibilities

• Lead the design, development and operation of scalable, secure and reliable internal developer platforms.
• Define the overall platform engineering strategy, architecture, roadmap and technical standards.
• Build and maintain cloud-native platforms across AWS, Azure or GCP environments.
• Design and manage Kubernetes, Docker and container orchestration platforms for production workloads.
• Develop and maintain Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using Terraform, Ansible and related automation tools.
• Build and optimize CI/CD pipelines, deployment automation and GitOps workflows.
• Drive adoption of platform automation, self-service infrastructure and developer tooling to improve engineering productivity.
• Establish and maintain observability, monitoring, logging and alerting using tools such as Prometheus, Grafana and ELK.
• Define and implement SRE practices, SLIs, SLOs, SLAs and reliability engineering standards.
• Improve platform scalability, availability, resilience, performance and cost efficiency.
• Lead cloud migration, infrastructure modernization and platform transformation initiatives.
• Implement platform security practices including IAM, secrets management, vulnerability management and DevSecOps.
• Establish disaster recovery, backup, business continuity and high-availability strategies.
• Identify infrastructure bottlenecks and lead capacity planning, performance optimization and root-cause analysis.
• Develop platform documentation, architecture standards, operational procedures and engineering guidelines.
• Partner with software engineering teams to understand developer requirements and continuously improve the developer experience.
• Evaluate and introduce new cloud-native technologies, tools and automation frameworks.
• Lead incident management and participate in resolving complex production and infrastructure issues.
• Mentor engineers and provide technical leadership across platform, DevOps and SRE teams.
• Collaborate with senior technology stakeholders to align platform capabilities with broader business and technology objectives.

Preferred candidate profile

• 5 to 10 years of experience in Platform Engineering, DevOps, SRE, Cloud Engineering, Infrastructure Engineering or Software Engineering.
• Strong hands-on experience designing and operating cloud platforms and internal developer platforms.
• Expert knowledge of Kubernetes, Docker, Terraform, CI/CD and Infrastructure as Code.
• Strong experience with at least one major cloud platform such as AWS, Azure or GCP.
• Proven experience implementing GitOps, deployment automation, self-service infrastructure and platform automation.
• Strong understanding of SRE principles, observability, monitoring, logging, SLIs, SLOs and incident management.
• Experience with Prometheus, Grafana, ELK, ArgoCD, Helm, Jenkins, GitLab CI or GitHub Actions.
• Strong knowledge of Linux, networking, security, IAM, containers and microservices.
• Experience designing highly available, scalable, resilient and secure production platforms.
• Strong understanding of DevSecOps, cloud security and infrastructure governance.
• Experience with cloud cost optimization, capacity planning and performance engineering.
• Demonstrated ability to lead platform modernization and cloud transformation initiatives.
• Strong technical leadership skills with experience mentoring engineers and driving engineering standards.
• Excellent stakeholder management, communication and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work closely with software engineering, security, architecture and operations teams.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering or a related technical field.
• CKA/CKAD, AWS, Azure, GCP, Terraform or relevant DevOps/SRE certifications are advantageous.
