Job Title: Plating Line Manager

Job Overview We are seeking an experienced Plating Line Manager to oversee daily production operations at a metal finishing facility. This role is responsible for managing plating processes, supervising production employees, improving operational efficiency, maintaining quality standards, and ensuring safe and profitable plant operations.

The ideal candidate will have extensive hands-on industry experience, strong leadership skills, and a proven ability to improve production output, product quality, and operational profitability. This is a management-focused position, with an emphasis on directing teams, optimizing processes, and driving continuous improvement rather than performing routine manual production tasks.

Key Responsibilities

Production & Operations Management

  • Oversee daily operations across anodizing, chemical film, passivation, and nickel plating lines.
  • Maximize production throughput, rack loading capacity, and the number of racks processed per load.
  • Minimize process dwell time, rework, and production inefficiencies.
  • Develop and maintain daily production schedules, including work schedules prepared at least 12 hours in advance and rolling three-day production plans.
  • Communicate production schedule changes and potential delays to the appropriate internal stakeholders.
  • Implement strategies to improve productivity, quality, operational efficiency, and profitability.

Quality Control & Process Compliance

  • Ensure plating processes operate according to established procedures, quality standards, and regulatory requirements.
  • Monitor and maintain chemical concentrations, line temperatures, current, voltage, and rinse water cleanliness within specified parameters.
  • Ensure scheduled chemical titrations and process checks are completed and documented.
  • Verify proper part masking, racking, conductivity, and secure part positioning according to customer specifications.
  • Support quality assurance programs, audits, employee training, and required documentation.
  • Investigate and resolve operational corrective action reports.

Team Leadership & Supervision

  • Directly supervise production employees and coordinate daily work assignments.
  • Ensure employees are adequately trained and qualified for their responsibilities.
  • Develop employees for advancement to higher levels of responsibility.
  • Promote a safe, organized, and efficient working environment.
  • Maintain clean, organized, and professional production, storage, and racking areas.

Inventory & Customer Satisfaction

  • Monitor chemical supplies, plating racks, and related production materials.
  • Maintain accurate inventory records and communicate purchasing requirements to management.
  • Proactively communicate production delays, damaged or missing parts, and quality concerns to the appropriate internal stakeholders.
  • Ensure customer commitments are met and production areas remain ready for customer visits or inspections.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Minimum of 10 years of plating industry experience in a lead or supervisory capacity.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Associate degree in an engineering-related discipline preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of anodizing, chemical film, passivation, and nickel plating processes.
  • Experience managing production schedules, plating chemistry, process controls, and quality standards.
  • Proven ability to supervise employees and drive production performance.
  • Strong organizational, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Ability to manage inventory, monitor production costs, and implement process improvements.

Benefits

  • Health insurance.
  • Paid time off.

Work Environment

This is a full-time, on-site management position in a manufacturing and metal finishing environment. The successful candidate will focus on leading production teams, optimizing processes, maintaining quality, and improving overall plant performance.
