PLC Engineer (control) – Freelance – Lisbon

Are you looking to take on a freelance mission as a PLC & Control Engineer in the energy and critical infrastructure sector?

Would you like to join a high-performing international team on a large-scale project, working with cutting-edge industrial technologies?

At Oxigent Technologies, we're looking for a PLC ENGINEER (CONTROL) to join an exciting Data Center commissioning project based near Lisbon (Portugal) , on a freelance basis. You will work on the integration and start-up of the Medium Voltage cells and their associated protection and control systems .

What will your main responsibilities be?

• Configure, program and test Schneider M580 PLCs using Control Expert (or adapt from Siemens TIA Portal)
• Design control and automation systems for high-voltage substations , in compliance with IEC 61850 and IEC 60870-5
• Take part in FAT and SAT validations, signal tests and loop testing
• Design and configure IP/Ethernet networks between devices
• Create and verify CID files for communication with internal and external SCADA systems
• Coordinate with internal teams and clients across Europe, and take part in knowledge-transfer activities with the French team

What will you need to succeed?

• Degree in Electronics, Automation, Electrical Engineering or similar
• 3-5 years of experience with PLCs , ideally Schneider Electric M580
• Solid experience with SCADA systems and the IEC 61850 protocol
• Knowledge of IP/Ethernet networking and industrial communication protocols
• English B2 or higher ; Spanish is a plus
• Based in Lisbon / Portugal , with a valid work permit and able to work as a freelancer in Portugal
• Nice to have: industrial control cybersecurity, EPAS/PACIS or PSO software, previous experience in substations or data centers
