Job Description – PLC / Industrial Automation Engineer

Job Summary

We are looking for a skilled PLC / Industrial Automation Engineer with 2–5 years of experience in industrial automation, PLC programming, commissioning, and troubleshooting. The ideal candidate should have experience in discrete manufacturing environments, preferably assembly lines and packaging machines, with knowledge of industrial communication protocols and automation systems.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop, modify, and maintain PLC programs for industrial automation systems.
• Work with PLC programming tools such as TwinCAT, CODESYS, Siemens SIMATIC STEP 7, RSLogix, or IndraWorks.
• Develop and troubleshoot PLC logic using Ladder Logic, Function Block Diagram (FBD), Structured Text (ST), and Sequential Function Chart (SFC).
• Read and interpret EPLAN documents, CTS, 3D models, and electrical wiring diagrams.
• Perform commissioning, testing, debugging, and troubleshooting of industrial automation systems.
• Integrate PLCs with servo drives, motion controllers, screwdrivers, and other external devices.
• Work with industrial communication protocols such as OPC-DA/UA, Modbus, and Profibus.
• Support HMI development, user acceptance testing (UAT), and plant rollouts.
• Coordinate with customers and cross-functional teams to ensure project delivery within agreed timelines.
• Maintain technical documentation and follow established quality and engineering processes.

Required Skills

• B.E./B.Tech in Electronics, Electrical, or Instrumentation Engineering.
• 2–5 years of experience in PLC programming and industrial automation.
• Hands-on experience with at least one PLC platform:
• TwinCAT
• CODESYS
• Siemens SIMATIC STEP 7
• Rockwell RSLogix
• IndraWorks
• Knowledge of IEC 61131-3 PLC programming languages: Ladder Logic, FBD, Structured Text, and SFC.
• Experience in industrial commissioning and troubleshooting.
• Ability to read electrical drawings and technical documentation.
• Knowledge of OPC-DA/UA, Modbus, or Profibus protocols.
• Good verbal and written communication skills in English.
• Ability to work independently, manage deadlines, and handle customer requirements.

Good-to-Have Skills

• Experience in discrete manufacturing, assembly lines, and packaging machines.
• Hands-on experience with HMI tools such as FactoryTalk View, Wonderware InTouch, or Siemens WinCC.
• Experience interfacing with servo drives and motion controllers.
• Knowledge of C#, .NET, or Java programming.
• Experience implementing Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES).
• Experience in UAT, production plant commissioning, and plant rollouts.

Preferred Candidate Profile

Candidates with hands-on PLC programming experience in industrial automation projects, particularly in manufacturing and assembly-line environments, are preferred.
