About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Plumbing Design Engineer to join our engineering team in Al Khobar, Saudi Arabia. The ideal candidate will have strong experience in the design and coordination of plumbing and building water systems, with proven experience in building projects.

Experience in maintenance, renovation, refurbishment, modification, and upgrading of existing plumbing systems will be highly preferred.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and execute plumbing design activities for commercial, residential, industrial, hospitality, and other building projects.
• Develop plumbing concepts, detailed designs, calculations, layouts, and technical documentation.
• Design domestic water supply systems, hot and cold-water systems, drainage systems, and associated plumbing services.
• Design sanitary drainage, soil and waste systems, stormwater drainage, and rainwater collection systems.
• Design water storage and distribution systems, including water tanks, pumps, booster systems, and associated equipment.
• Carry out pipe sizing, hydraulic calculations, pressure-drop calculations, flow calculations, and pump sizing.
• Prepare plumbing layouts, riser diagrams, schematics, sections, and detailed drawings.
• Develop equipment schedules, pipe schedules, valve schedules, and other technical documentation.
• Coordinate plumbing systems with Architectural, Structural, HVAC, Electrical, Fire Protection, and other disciplines.
• Coordinate plumbing services within ceiling spaces, shafts, plant rooms, service areas, and building risers.
• Review architectural layouts and identify plumbing requirements at an early design stage.
• Review existing plumbing systems and develop solutions for maintenance, replacement, refurbishment, renovation, and modification works.
• Assess existing systems and recommend suitable upgrades and improvements.
• Review and coordinate plumbing shop drawings and construction documentation.
• Review material submittals, technical submittals, equipment selections, and method statements.
• Respond to RFIs, technical queries, and design-related issues.
• Conduct site inspections and provide technical recommendations related to plumbing works.
• Coordinate with clients, consultants, contractors, suppliers, and multidisciplinary engineering teams.
• Ensure plumbing designs comply with applicable Saudi Building Code (SBC), IPC, UPC, ASPE standards, local authority requirements, and project specifications.
• Prepare and review technical reports, specifications, BOQs, schedules, and design documentation.
• Review drawings and calculations prepared by junior engineers and provide technical guidance.
• Ensure design deliverables are completed within project schedules and required quality standards.

Required Qualifications & Experience

• Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a relevant engineering discipline from a recognized university.
• 8–12+ years of relevant experience in plumbing/building services design.
• Strong experience in plumbing design for building projects.
• Proven experience with domestic water supply, hot and cold water, sanitary drainage, soil and waste, and stormwater systems.
• Strong knowledge of hydraulic calculations, pipe sizing, pump selection, and plumbing system design.
• Experience with building maintenance, renovation, refurbishment, or modification projects will be an advantage.
• Knowledge of Saudi Building Code and Saudi authority requirements is preferred.
• Experience working with engineering consultants is preferred.
• Strong multidisciplinary coordination and technical communication skills.
• Ability to independently manage plumbing design assignments from concept through detailed design.
• Strong understanding of construction methods and practical site requirements.
• Candidates available for immediate joining are strongly preferred.

Software Skills

Proficiency in relevant engineering and design software, including:

• AutoCAD
• Revit MEP
• Plumbing design and hydraulic calculation software
• Navisworks – preferred
• BIM coordination experience will be an added advantage.

Preferred Candidate Profile

The ideal candidate should be a technically strong Plumbing Design Engineer with extensive experience in building services and the ability to independently develop, coordinate, and review plumbing designs.

Candidates with Saudi Arabia / GCC project experience, multidisciplinary coordination experience, and exposure to maintenance, refurbishment, and renovation projects will be preferred.
