Job Summary We are seeking an experienced Plumbing Engineer / MEP Designer to design plumbing and fire protection systems for commercial and residential projects. The ideal candidate will be responsible for system design, engineering calculations, construction documentation, multidisciplinary coordination, and managing multiple projects while ensuring compliance with applicable building codes and industry standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Design plumbing and fire protection systems from concept through construction documentation.
• Prepare engineering calculations for water, gas, sanitary, sewer, and storm drainage systems.
• Conduct field surveys and evaluate existing building conditions.
• Develop construction drawings, specifications, and design documentation.
• Coordinate with architectural, engineering, construction, and regulatory teams throughout project execution.
• Manage multiple projects while meeting schedules and project requirements.
• Review shop drawings and participate in project coordination meetings.
• Ensure designs comply with applicable building codes, fire protection standards, and regulatory requirements.

Required Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years of experience in plumbing and/or fire protection system design.
• Minimum 3 years of experience designing projects within New York City.
• Strong knowledge of NYC Building Code, NYC Energy Conservation Code, and local permitting requirements.
• Experience with utility company filing procedures.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD (Revit experience is a plus).
• Familiarity with NFPA 13, NFPA 13R, and hydraulic calculations.
• Experience with DEP cross-connection and site connection submissions is preferred.
• Excellent communication, teamwork, and organizational skills.
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
