What they need

JOB PURPOSE

The Packaging Material (PM) Inspector is responsible for the rigorous inspection and evaluation of packaging materials and components. This role ensures that all primary and secondary packaging meets technical specifications, safety standards, and regulatory requirements, thereby safeguarding product integrity and brand consistency throughout the production process.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES

Material Sampling, Inspection, and Verification

  1. Collect representative samples from incoming lots according to established sampling plans (e.g., ANSI/ASQ standards) for subsequent inspection.
  2. Inspect incoming packaging materials (such as bottles, caps, cartons, and labels) for defects, damage, or aesthetic deviations.
  3. Conduct tests to assess material dimensions by utilizing inspection tools including calipers, micrometers, and gauges to verify that components meet exact dimensional requirements.
  4. Accurately record all raw test data and analytical findings to maintain a clear audit trail.
  5. Prepare comprehensive inspection reports and formal Certificates of Inspection (COI).
  6. Ensure all components align with established quality benchmarks before releasing them to the production floor.
  7. Verify material certifications, supplier’s Certificates of Inspection (COI), and other supplier documentation to ensure full traceability of each batch.

Quality Assurance and Collaboration

  1. Identify and segregate non-conforming packaging materials; initiate reports for corrective action to prevent sub-standard materials from entering the line.
  2. Assist in the initial stages of root cause analysis for quality-related concerns.
  3. Work closely with the QA Specialist to investigate quality trends and implement process improvements to reduce material waste.
  4. Facilitate and provide necessary documentation during internal audits or inspections by regulatory agencies and customers.

QUALIFICATIONS

  1. At least high school graduate; additional education or technical training in quality assurance is a plus.
  2. Preferably with experience in packaging material sampling and inspection.
  3. Has knowledge on quality assurance principles, Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and Good Warehousing Practices (GWP).
  4. Computer literate and has good communication skills.
