What You'll Do:

• Provide leadership and direction to the police department
• Develop and implement departmental policies and procedures
• Manage and oversee all law enforcement operations
• Collaborate with other city departments and community organizations
• Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal laws

What We're Looking For:

• Proven experience as a law enforcement officer
• Strong leadership and management skills
• Passion for serving and protecting the community
• Thorough knowledge of police equipment operations and maintenance.
• Thorough knowledge of safety standards and precautions pertaining to the use and operation of police equipment and to law enforcement.
• Thorough knowledge of effective managerial and administrative practices, methods, and processes.
• Ability to plan, organize, prioritized, coordinate, assign and evaluate the work of all department staff.

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Possession of a bachelor's degree in criminal justice or related field and 5 years of progressively responsible police experience including two years of command level experience equivalent to a Police Lieutenant rank. Desire command level training from either FBINAA, Southern Police Institute Administrative Course or Northwestern University Staff & Command.

NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

Possession of a valid North Dakota driver's license. Possession of or ability to obtain a valid North Dakota Peace Officer's license. Must be bondable and insurable.
