What they need
The London Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI) is London's leading business membership organisation and a powerful voice for the capital's business community. We champion London as the world's best city for business, trade and investment, supporting organisations of all sizes through advocacy, insight, networking and international engagement.
We are looking for a Policy Coordinator to join our Policy and Public Affairs team. This is an exciting opportunity to play a central role in supporting our policy committees and business networks, helping to ensure the views of London businesses are heard by decision-makers and reflected in public policy.
As Policy Coordinator, you will be the driving force behind the smooth operation of our policy committees and networks, providing high-quality secretariat support, coordinating stakeholder engagement activities, and contributing to the team's communications and policy initiatives.
Our Policy and Public Affairs team works to represent the voice of London business, influence policy at local and national levels, deliver impactful research and insights, keep members informed of key developments, and strengthen relationships with policymakers and influential stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
The postholder will:
- Provide the secretariat for LCCI's eight Policy Committees and four Networks, managing the administration of approximately 50 meetings a year.
- Manage the forward calendar for all twelve groups, scheduling meetings, issuing invitations and Teams links, booking rooms and tracking attendance.
- Prepare and circulate agendas and papers ahead of each meeting, working with the Senior Policy Advisers, and circulate notes and action points afterwards.
- Maintain a master tracker for all Policy Committees and Networks, following up with members and colleagues to ensure actions are completed.
- Act as the day-to-day point of contact for Network Chairs.
- Coordinate with the Events Team on the planning and delivery of Network events.
- Maintain accurate membership records and Terms of Reference for each Policy Committee and Network, and support the recruitment and onboarding of Chairs, Deputy Chairs and members.
- Respond to enquiries from members about Policy Committees and Networks.
- Provide research support to the team, including desk research, data gathering and contributions to consultation responses, briefings and reports.
- Manage team administration, including contact databases, stakeholder lists and shared records.
- Support the logistics of policy roundtables and events as required.
- Undertake other reasonable duties consistent with the level and scope of the role, as requested by the Head of Policy and Public Affairs or SLT.
Required Competencies
Essential
- Experience providing secretariat, administrative or coordination support.
- Strong organisational skills, able to manage multiple meeting cycles and deadlines at once with accuracy and attention to detail.
- Excellent written communication, able to produce clear agendas, papers and correspondence for senior business audiences.
- Maintain confident and professional interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with senior stakeholders.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, and comfortable maintaining databases and records.
- Fluent written and spoken English, with the ability to communicate clearly and professionally.
- Demonstrable interest in policy issues affecting London businesses and the capital's economy.
Experience
- Track record of running a busy programme of meetings to a consistently high standard.
- Experience working across teams to deliver events or projects in a fast-paced environment.
- Experience carrying out desk research and summarising information clearly for senior colleagues.
Desirable
- Experience in a membership organisation, trade body, political or policy environment.
- Experience using a CRM system.
- Understanding of the Westminster and City Hall policy landscape.
