Polishing Engineer

HOYA Electronics’ primary focus is on the development of optical and extreme ultraviolet (EUV) photomask blanks, which are critical components in the manufacturing process of the latest-generation chips used in various applications such as artificial intelligence, high-performance computing, and 5G, as well as the production of various memory, logic, and power devices.

Essential Responsibilities

• Lead end-to-end development and improvement of polishing processes to enhance yield, capacity, and manufacturing performance
• Own and sustain polishing processes, ensuring equipment performance, troubleshooting issues, and maintaining uptime
• Conduct root cause analysis on process and product failures, implementing effective corrective and preventive actions
• Analyze process data, run experiments, and prepare key reports (e.g., TQYR, engineering reports, and troubleshooting summaries)
• Develop, maintain, and enhance SOPs while supporting equipment qualification, validation, and engineering collaborations
• Manage consumables and spare parts planning, support equipment upgrades, and perform ad hoc tasks as assigned

Skills and Competencies Profile

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical / Chemical Engineering or in any related field; fresh graduates may apply, OR
• 1 – 2 years of relevant working experience in the semiconductor industry, or prior experience in polishing process with knowledge of CMP / Cleaning, is preferred

Technical Skills:

• Basic computer skills with proficiency in Microsoft Office, specifically Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Power BI
• Experienced in data analysis and statistical tools, including JMP
• Strong knowledge of statistical and process improvement methodologies, including SPC, DOE, and process/equipment FMEA

Soft Skills:

• Able to work independently with initiative and accountability in a fast-paced environment
• Strong team player with good communication and problem-solving skills
• Adaptable and detail-oriented
