POLLUTION CONTROL OFFICER

Duties and Responsibilities

• Bachelor's degree in environmental science, Environmental Engineering.
• Must meet the applicable DENR-EMB qualifications and accreditation requirements for a Pollution Control Officer.
• Knowledge of environmental laws and regulations, particularly those related to air pollution, water pollution, and hazardous waste management.
• Good communication, documentation, and organizational skills.
• Ability to prepare environmental reports and maintain compliance records.
• Experience in environmental management or regulatory compliance is an advantage.

1. Environmental Compliance

• Ensure compliance with environmental laws, regulations, and requirements of the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) and the Environmental Management Bureau (EMB).
• Monitor the validity of environmental permits, clearances, and other regulatory documents.
• Implement and maintain the company's Environmental Management Plan.

2. Pollution Prevention and Control

• Monitor air emissions, wastewater discharges, and other potential sources of pollution.
• Ensure proper operation and maintenance of pollution control facilities and equipment.
• Implement measures to prevent environmental contamination and reduce pollution.

3. Waste Management

• Supervise the proper handling, storage, labeling, transport, and disposal of hazardous waste.
• Monitor solid waste segregation, recycling, and disposal activities.
• Maintain waste inventory records and required manifests and reports.

4. Environmental Monitoring and Reporting

• Conduct regular environmental inspections and monitoring activities.
• Prepare and submit required environmental reports to the appropriate regulatory agencies.
• Maintain environmental records, monitoring results, permits, and compliance documents.

5. Environmental Training and Awareness

• Conduct environmental awareness training for employees.
• Promote proper waste management and pollution prevention practices.
• Inform employees about environmental policies, procedures, and applicable regulations.

6. Inspection and Corrective Actions

• Conduct routine inspections of facilities and work areas to identify environmental risks.
• Investigate environmental incidents, spills, and complaints.
• Recommend and implement corrective and preventive actions for environmental noncompliance.

7. Coordination and Communication

• Coordinate with DENR-EMB, local government units, and other relevant agencies regarding environmental compliance.
• Assist during environmental inspections, audits, and regulatory assessments.
• Coordinate with management and other departments on environmental concerns and improvement programs.
