Polymer Technologist

Role Summary

Lead rubber compound development, process optimization, new product development, quality improvement and technical support for oil seals, O-rings, hydraulic and pneumatic seals and other rubber molded products.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and optimize rubber compounds for industrial and automotive applications.
• Formulate compounds using NR, NBR, EPDM, FKM (Viton), Silicone, CR, HNBR and other elastomers.
• Lead new product development from concept to production.
• Troubleshoot compounding, mixing, moulding and curing issues.
• Drive quality, productivity and cost improvement initiatives.
• Conduct laboratory testing and interpret results.-set up R n D lab
• Support customer approvals and resolve technical complaints.
• Prepare formulations, SOPs, validation reports, APQP and technical documentation (PPAP).
• Work with Production, Quality, Tool Room and Supply Chain.
• Ensure compliance with ISO/IATF and customer requirements.
• Mentor junior engineers and technicians.

Qualifications

• B.Tech/M.Tech in Rubber Technology, Polymer Technology or Polymer Engineering.
• Chemical/Materials Engineering with extensive rubber industry experience may also be considered.

Required Skills

• Strong knowledge of rubber compounding and polymer chemistry.
• Hands-on experience with compression, transfer and injection moulding processes.
• Knowledge of Elastomers & Thermoplastics.
• Familiarity with rubber testing methods, rheology, hardness, tensile, elongation, ageing and compression set testing.
• Ability to solve manufacturing and quality-related technical issues.
• Good analytical, problem-solving and communication skills.
• Experience working in an ISO -certified manufacturing environment is preferred.
