Polysomnographer - Per Diem

The Polysomnographer will perform sleep studies to diagnose sleep disorders such as sleep apnea, insomnia, narcolepsy, and restless legs syndrome.

Main Duties

• Prepare patients for overnight sleep studies.
• Explain the sleep-study procedure and answer patient questions.
• Apply and monitor sensors/electrodes that measure:
  • Brain activity (EEG)
  • Eye movements (EOG)
  • Muscle activity (EMG)
  • Heart activity (ECG)
  • Breathing and oxygen levels
  • Body movements and sleep position
• Monitor patients throughout the night and recognize abnormal events.
• Operate polysomnography and related sleep-monitoring equipment.
• Troubleshoot equipment or signal problems.
• Document and score sleep-study data according to established guidelines.
• Perform or assist with CPAP/BiPAP titration when ordered.
• Maintain patient safety and comfort during the study.
• Prepare accurate reports/data for physicians or sleep specialists.

Education: Licensed Professional - RRT/RN/LPN/ Polysomnographer - willingness to become RPSGT with in one year of date of hire.

Experience: 1 year experience in a Sleep Lab preferred but not mandatory.

Certificate: NYS RT Licensure - BLS required.
