Pool Designer & Estimator

We are hiring an in-house Pool Designer & Estimator to take ownership of projects from the initial sales handoff through design, estimating, revisions, and proposal preparation.

This is not simply a rendering position. We need someone who can create beautiful projects while keeping designs realistic, buildable, and aligned with the client's budget. The right person will combine creativity with commercial judgment and will care just as much about the client experience and the success of the project as the rendering itself.

This is a company where the right person can have real influence. We want people who take ownership, improve the way things are done, and want their responsibility and income to grow as the company grows. This role is not a dead-end production seat. It has the potential to become a key part of our design and estimating department and, over time, help shape and lead that function.

Who will thrive here: You should be comfortable telling a client when something doesn't fit their budget and helping them find a better solution. We want someone who takes ownership, works quickly without sacrificing accuracy, communicates proactively, and wants to grow with the company.

Compensation: Base salary + performance-based compensation. Approximate starting base: $40,000. Our compensation structure is designed to reward production and growth, with a target earning opportunity of approximately $60,000-$80,000+ in Year 1 and potential to exceed $100,000 as project volume and responsibility increase.

Candidates selected for an interview should be prepared to discuss a time they had to balance a client's design request with their budget, site limitations, or another real-world constraint.

Compensation:

$60,000 - $80,000 yearly

Responsibilities:

• Create custom pool and outdoor living designs using Structure Studios/VIP3D or similar software
• Review surveys, site photos, elevations, measurements, and client requirements
• Produce high-quality 3D designs and presentation renderings
• Develop project estimates using our JobTread price book and estimating system; obtain vendor and subcontractor pricing when needed
• Manage client design revisions and selections; keep projects aligned with the client's established budget and recommend alternatives when requested features exceed it
• Prepare complete, accurate projects for final sales presentation and maintain organized project documentation in JobTread
• Help improve our design and estimating systems as we grow

Qualifications:

• Required: Professional design experience working with paying clients
• Required: Strong creative and spatial design ability; excellent computer and technology skills
• Required: Strong communication and client-management skills, with the ability to confidently discuss scope, budget, and trade-offs
• Required: Strong attention to detail and organization; ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines; self-motivated and accountable
• Preferred: Structure Studios, VIP3D, Pool Studio, or VizTerra experience
• Preferred: Pool, landscape, outdoor living, architecture, or residential construction experience; construction estimating experience; experience reading surveys or construction plans
• Preferred: JobTread or similar construction software experience. Pool-specific estimating experience is helpful, but we can teach our estimating process. Design ability, judgment, communication skills, and the ability to manage the client experience are more important.
