The National Centre of Indigenous Excellence (NCIE) is looking for enthusiastic and community-minded Pool Lifeguards to join our team in the heart of Redfern on Gadigal Country.

NCIE is more than a pool or gym. We’re a vibrant community space where culture, health, wellbeing and connection come together. As a Lifeguard, you’ll play an important role in creating a safe, welcoming and positive experience for our members, families and community.

Why you'll love working at NCIE

  • Be part of a friendly, supportive and purpose-led team.
  • Work in a vibrant community environment where every day is different.
  • Build valuable experience in aquatic and recreation operations.
  • Enjoy free gym and pool membership.
  • Work in a convenient Redfern location, close to public transport.
  • Access a variety of shifts across our 7-day rotating roster, including evenings and weekends.

About the role

As a Pool Lifeguard, you'll help keep our pool safe, welcoming and running smoothly.

You'll:

  • Monitor pool activities and maintain a safe environment.
  • Respond confidently to incidents and emergencies.
  • Provide friendly and professional customer service.

  • Complete pool supervision, safety checks and other operational duties.
  • Work closely with the wider Fitness & Aquatics team.

About you

You'll be a great fit if you:

  • Are passionate about water safety and helping others.
  • Enjoy working with people and being part of a team.
  • Stay calm, alert and confident in busy situations.
  • Can work independently and take responsibility for safety.
  • Bring a positive, friendly and community-focused approach.
  • Are available to work a 7-day rotating roster, particularly evenings and weekends.

You'll need

  • Current NSW Pool Lifeguard qualification.
  • Current First Aid and CPR certificates.
  • Current Working with Children Check and Police Check, or willingness to obtain.
  • Valid Australian working rights.

Be part of something meaningful.

At NCIE, your role is about more than watching the pool. You'll help create a space where people feel safe, welcome, active and connected.
