Port Captain

Responsibilities

• Checks stowage plans for all voyages.
• Checks passage plans.
• Prepares chartering questionnaires in collaboration with the operator.
• Coordinates with the Master to ensure correct loading and discharging sequences.
• Ensures the vessel complies with the UKC policy established by the MSQ department.
• Participates and contributes to weekly operations meetings to enhance the overall effectiveness of the Operations Department.
• Participates in courses and additional learning opportunities to continuously improve skills.
• Works with junior members of the Operations team as needed to help develop their skills and experience.
• Carries out specific projects periodically, as assigned by the Director of Operations.

Qualifications / Experience

• Captain Class A License.
• Minimum 3 years of experience as a Port Captain in a shipping company with bulk carriers, will be considered as an asset.
• Fluency in English.
• Computer literate.
• Communication & negotiation skills.
