Role Description The Port Dispatcher role is a full-time, remote position responsible for coordinating daily truck movements to and from ports and terminals. This role includes scheduling pickups and deliveries, assigning loads to drivers, monitoring shipment status, and ensuring compliance with port and carrier requirements. The Port Dispatcher communicates regularly with drivers and port personnel to resolve issues, manage delays, and maintain accurate dispatch records. Additional responsibilities include updating transportation management systems, tracking containers, and supporting efficient route planning to meet timelines and service standards. The role requires consistent, professional communication and strong attention to detail in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• Candidates should possess strong dispatching and logistics coordination skills, including experience with port or drayage operations.
• Candidates should possess solid planning and organizational skills to manage schedules, prioritize loads, and meet tight deadlines.
• Candidates should possess effective communication and customer service skills for interacting with drivers, customers, and port personnel.
• Candidates should possess proficiency with transportation or dispatch software, spreadsheets, and basic data entry tools.
• Relevant skills such as problem-solving, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently in a remote setting are beneficial.
• Prior experience in trucking, logistics, or distribution, and knowledge of port procedures, container tracking, and safety regulations are preferred.
• A high school diploma or equivalent is required; additional education or certifications in logistics or transportation are a plus.
• Experience with TMS software is a plus
