Port Superintendent

Job Summary:

The Port Superintendent oversees the safe, efficient, and compliant operation of the company’s port facilities that handle the loading, unloading, storage, and shipment of mineral products, fuel, equipment, and supplies. The role ensures smooth coordination of shipping logistics, compliance with maritime and environmental regulations, and effective supervision of port personnel and contractors.

Key Responsibilities

1. Port Operations Management

• Supervise daily port operations, including vessel berthing, loading/unloading of cargoes, and stockpile management.
• Monitor loading efficiency to achieve target loading rates and minimize vessel turnaround time.
• Oversee the use and maintenance of port equipment (e.g., conveyors, loaders, cranes, barges).

2. Logistics & Coordination

• Coordinate with shipping agents, customs, suppliers, and contractors to ensure smooth vessel operations.
• Monitor inventory of exported and imported materials, ensuring accurate documentation.
• Schedule and manage port activities to align with mining production and shipping schedules.

3. Safety, Security & Compliance

• Enforce compliance with port, maritime, environmental, and occupational safety regulations.
• Ensure strict adherence to the International Ship and Port Facility Security (ISPS) Code.
• Conduct safety inspections, risk assessments, and emergency response drills at the port facility.
• Ensure compliance with DENR, MARINA, Philippine Coast Guard, and local government requirements.

4. Personnel Supervision & Training

• Supervise port staff, stevedores, and contracted service providers.
• Conduct training on safety procedures, cargo handling, and environmental protection.
• Promote teamwork, discipline, and continuous improvement among port personnel.

5. Reporting & Documentation

• Prepare daily port activity reports, cargo manifests, and incident reports.
• Maintain accurate records of shipments, cargo volumes, and demurrage/detention data.
• Submit compliance reports to regulatory agencies as required.
• Perform other related duties and responsibilities as may be assigned to support departmental and organizational needs from time to time

Qualifications & Skills:

• Bachelor’s degree in Maritime Studies, Port/Logistics Management, Engineering, or related field.
• At least 5 years of experience in port operations, shipping, or logistics; supervisory experience required.
• Strong knowledge of port operations, maritime safety, and cargo handling systems.
• Familiarity with ISPS Code, MARINA, and Philippine Coast Guard regulations.
• Excellent leadership, problem-solving, and communication skills.
• Physically fit to supervise operations in a seaport environment.
• Must be willing to relocate and work on-site at the company's project site in Brooke's Point, Palawan.
