Porter

Patient Transportation

· Transport patients safely between wards, clinics, operating theatre, diagnostic departments and other areas as instructed.

· Assist patients with wheelchairs, stretchers and other mobility equipment.

· Ensure patients are handled with care, dignity and respect at all times.

· Confirm patient identity and destination before transportation.

· Assist with transferring patients between beds, stretchers and wheelchairs when required and according to hospital procedures.

Equipment & Supply Transportation

· Transport medical equipment, supplies, linen, specimens, documents and other materials between departments.

· Assist in moving beds, wheelchairs, stretchers, trolleys and other hospital equipment.

· Ensure equipment and items are handled carefully to prevent damage or loss.

· Return equipment to designated locations after use.

Departmental Support

· Assist Nursing, Admission & Discharge, Pharmacy, Laboratory, Radiology, OT and other departments with transportation and porter-related requests.

· Support urgent transportation requirements when necessary.

· Assist with preparation and movement of items for procedures, admissions, discharges and transfers.

· Assist in other operational tasks as assigned by the supervisor or Management.

Safety & Cleanliness

. Ensure wheelchairs, stretchers and trolleys are clean, safe and ready for use.

. Report any damaged or faulty equipment immediately.

. Follow hospital safety, infection prevention and control procedures.

. Maintain cleanliness and proper organization of porter equipment and designated areas.

. Handle medical waste or other materials only in accordance with hospital procedures and within the scope of the role.

Customer Service & Communication

. Communicate politely and professionally with patients, visitors and hospital staff.

. Provide appropriate assistance to patients and visitors when required.

.Maintain patient confidentiality at all times.

.Respond promptly to requests from departments and supervisors.

Other Duties

. Assist with general hospital operational and support activities as assigned.

. Be prepared to work shifts, weekends and public holidays according to the hospital's operational requirements.

. Perform any other duties reasonably assigned by Management from time to time.

Requirements:

. Minimum SPM or equivalent.

. Previous experience as a Hospital Porter, Healthcare Assistant, Patient Care Assistant, General Worker or similar role will be an advantage.

. Experience in a hospital or healthcare environment is preferred.

. Male candidates preferred due to the physical and operational requirements of the role.

. Physically fit and able to perform tasks involving pushing, pulling, lifting and moving patients/equipment.

. Good communication and interpersonal skills.

. Responsible, punctual, disciplined and able to follow instructions.

. Able to work independently and as part of a team.

. Willing to work shifts, weekends and public holidays when required.
