Porter

The facility Porter is responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, and organized facility. This position supports daily operations by performing cleaning, waste removal, material handling, general maintenance assistance, and other facility-related duties. The Porter must follow company safety procedures and all Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and food safety requirements.

Responsibilities

• Clean and maintain production, warehouse, office, break room, restroom, and common areas.
• Sweep, mop, scrub, and sanitize floors and other designated surfaces.
• Empty trash and recycling containers and dispose of waste in designated areas.
• Maintain cleanliness around dumpsters and waste collection areas.
• Clean and sanitize equipment, tools, carts, and other items as assigned.
• Assist with maintaining clean and organized production and warehouse areas.
• Perform routine cleaning and housekeeping throughout the facility.
• Restock cleaning supplies, paper products, soap, and other facility supplies.
• Report damaged equipment, leaks, spills, safety hazards, or facility maintenance issues to management.
• Assist maintenance personnel with basic facility-related tasks as directed.
• Assist with moving boxes, supplies, pallets, equipment, and other materials when needed.
• Maintain exterior areas, including sidewalks, entrances, loading areas, and parking areas.
• Assist with snow, ice, leaves, and other seasonal maintenance as needed.
• Maintain cleanliness of employee and visitor areas.
• Follow established cleaning schedules and sanitation procedures.
• Properly use and store cleaning chemicals and equipment.
• Complete cleaning and sanitation logs accurately.
• Follow all company policies, safety procedures, GMP requirements, and food safety practices.
• Wear required personal protective equipment (PPE) and maintain appropriate personal hygiene.
• Immediately report any potential product contamination, foreign material, pest activity, or other food safety concerns.
• Perform other duties as assigned by management.

Food Safety & GMP Responsibilities

Because this position will work within or around coffee production and packaging areas, the Porter must:

• Follow all applicable GMP and food safety procedures.
• Maintain clean and sanitary work areas.
• Prevent cleaning chemicals, tools, trash, and other potential contaminants from coming into contact with coffee, packaging materials, or food-contact surfaces.
• Use only approved cleaning chemicals and procedures.
• Properly identify and store chemicals away from production and packaging materials.
• Follow handwashing, personal hygiene, and protective clothing requirements.
• Immediately report spills, broken glass, pests, contamination, or foreign material.
• Never eat, drink, or use tobacco products in production, warehouse, or other restricted areas.
• Complete required GMP, food safety, and safety training.

Qualifications

• Previous janitorial, porter, warehouse, manufacturing, or facilities experience preferred.
• Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Reliable attendance and punctuality.
• Strong attention to cleanliness and detail.
• Ability to safely operate basic cleaning equipment.
• Ability to communicate effectively with supervisors and coworkers.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced industrial or manufacturing environment.
• Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
• Ability to frequently bend, stoop, reach, push, pull, and lift.
• Ability to lift and carry materials weighing up to 50 pounds.
• Ability to work around machinery, warehouse equipment, cleaning chemicals, and varying temperatures.
• Ability to safely perform repetitive cleaning and material-handling tasks.

Job Type: Full-time

Salary: $17 - $19 per hour

Education:

• High school or equivalent

Experience:

• Previous janitorial, porter, warehouse, manufacturing, or facilities experience (Preferred)
