Porter

Job Summary We are looking for a Porter to join our Facilities Team at Northgate Park, Morpeth. This post will be offered as Part Time 22.5 hours per week on the following 4-week rolling shift pattern. Job share / split could be accommodated.

• Week 1 - Wednesday, Saturday, Sunday
• Week 2 - Wednesday, Thursday, Friday
• Week 3 - Wednesday, Thursday, Friday
• Week 4 - Thursday, Saturday*, Sunday*

Shift times either 830am - 430pm or 930am - 530pm on weeks 1, 2 and 3. On week 4 they would be: Thursday 8am - 130pm, Saturday 6am - 530pm and Sunday 6am - 12pm. Those shifts with * are driving the laundry van.

Main duties of the job

Our Porters carry out a wide range of tasks which makes the job interesting and varied. No two days are the same and because we provide services to the NHS you will play a role in supporting better care.

The job includes collecting and moving items, disposing of waste, sorting and delivering post, and moving furniture. You'll need to work flexibly and think on your feet as you solve problems and issues.

You will also be responsible for driving various vehicles safely and you could be working outdoors in all weather conditions. There can be interaction with patients which requires awareness of safety and sensitivity to their needs.

This role is ideal for someone who enjoys carrying out a diverse range of tasks.

Person Specification

Experience Essential

• Using own initiative to work unsupervised

Desirable

• Working in a healthcare environment with an understanding of the needs of service users

Skills and Knowledge Essential

• Must be able to meet the mobility requirements of the post
• Ability to read maps and use navigation devices
• Customer care skills
• Basic IT skill to update records and routine work requests however full training is provided.

Education and Qualifications Essential

• Possess a full UK driving license
