POSITION TITLE: Porter/Busser

REPORTS TO: General Manager

TASKS AND COMPETENCIES:

➢ Rapidly clear dirty dishes, glassware, silverware, and trash from tables as guests finish courses or depart.

➢ Wipe down tables, chairs, booths, and surrounding surfaces using approved cleaning and sanitation agents.

➢ Quickly reset cleared tables with fresh linens, menus, napkins, silverware, and condiments.

➢ Assist waitstaff by refilling water glasses, bringing out bread or extra side items, and running food or drinks when needed.

➢ Sweep up dropped food, napkins, or debris around dining tables and keep service stations fully stocked.

➢ Regularly check and clean restrooms, restock soap, paper towels, and toilet paper throughout the shift.

➢ Empty trash cans, replace liners, break down cardboard, and haul waste to exterior dumpsters.

➢ Sweep and mop dining rooms, lobbies, entryways, and employee areas.

➢ Transport dirty glassware and bus tubs to the dishwashing station and restock clean items.

➢ Sweep outdoor entryways, manage crowd control stanchions or outdoor seating setups (depending on the venue), and handle emergency spill cleanups.

PREREQUISITES:

Education: Must be able to read, write, speak clearly, listen attentively and understand the primary language(s) used in the workplace.

Experience: Has a basic knowledge of safety and sanitation regulations. Previous experience in food production and demonstrated organization and time management skills are beneficial.

Physical: Must be able to bend, stoop, lift and carry items weighing up to 50 pounds on a regular basis. Must be able to stand for long periods of time and move from area to area in the kitchen. Must possess visual acuity, communication and ability of both a verbal and written nature.
