About Litco Industries

Litco Industries is a specialist subcontracting company involved in the fabrication, supply, and installation of steel structures and architectural metalworks. The company executes projects across the UAE and wider GCC, supporting a range of construction and engineering requirements.

About the Role

We are looking for a Quantity Surveyor – Post Contract to manage the commercial aspects of assigned projects from a post-contract perspective. The role will focus on payment applications, measurement and valuation, variations, claims, commercial negotiations, and maintaining accurate project financial records.

The successful candidate should be comfortable dealing with main contractor commercial teams, consultants, project teams, and internal management.

Key Responsibilities

Payment Applications & Valuation

  • Prepare regular payment applications based on actual project progress and contractual valuation procedures.
  • Carry out measurements and valuations for completed fabrication, installation, erection, and other metalwork activities.
  • Compile supporting documents including progress records, delivery documentation, material details, measurement sheets, photographs, and weight calculations.
  • Monitor submitted applications against certified values and highlight discrepancies or short certifications.
  • Follow up on outstanding certifications and maintain accurate records of payment status.
  • Keep project accounts updated with applications, certifications, payments, and outstanding balances.

Variations & Commercial Changes

  • Review project developments, drawings, instructions, and changes in scope to identify potential commercial variations.
  • Prepare and maintain a variation log covering submitted, approved, pending, and rejected items.
  • Develop variation quotations with appropriate measurements, rates, cost build-ups, and supporting documentation.
  • Ensure variation submissions are prepared and issued within the applicable contractual periods.
  • Liaise with the main contractor's commercial team to clarify, discuss, and agree variation values.
  • Ensure approved variations are properly reflected in the project commercial account.

Claims & Contractual Matters

  • Assist in preparing contractual claims arising from delays, additional works, disruption, acceleration, prolongation, or other project-related events.
  • Gather relevant project records, correspondence, programme information, instructions, and supporting evidence.
  • Prepare structured commercial submissions demonstrating the basis and value of the claim.
  • Monitor contractual notice requirements and ensure relevant commercial events are documented within the required timelines.
  • Support management in protecting the company's contractual and commercial entitlements.

Commercial Meetings & Negotiations

  • Participate in commercial discussions with main contractor QS teams, consultants, and other project stakeholders.
  • Present project valuations, variations, claims, and commercial matters clearly and professionally.
  • Follow up on disputed valuations, rejected variations, deductions, and outstanding commercial issues.
  • Review proposed back-charges, contra charges, and set-offs and provide appropriate commercial responses supported by records.
  • Maintain professional working relationships while representing the company's commercial interests.

Cost Monitoring & Commercial Reporting

  • Prepare periodic commercial updates covering payment applications, certified values, variations, claims, and outstanding amounts.
  • Monitor project financial performance against the agreed contract value.
  • Identify potential commercial risks, cost exposure, and areas that may affect project margins.
  • Maintain organized records of contracts, correspondence, submissions, certificates, notices, and supporting documentation.
  • Coordinate with project and finance teams to ensure commercial records remain accurate and up to date.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Quantity Surveying, Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related discipline.
  • Practical experience in post-contract quantity surveying and commercial management.
  • Hands-on experience preparing Interim Payment Applications (IPAs) and supporting documentation.
  • Demonstrated experience handling variations, commercial submissions, and contractual claims.
  • Experience dealing with main contractor QS/commercial teams and project consultants.
  • Good understanding of FIDIC contracts and UAE construction contract practices.
  • Strong measurement, valuation, documentation, and commercial negotiation skills.
  • Ability to prepare professional contractual letters, commercial submissions, and claim documentation.
  • Strong communication, coordination, analytical, and negotiation abilities.
