Duties/Responsibilities

Duties/Responsibilities

Designing and conducting experiments to identify and characterize anti-CRISPR proteins from viruses; and to identify and characterize new viruses and plasmids from hyperthermophilic archaea; and to understand detailed molecular mechanisms of prokaryote-viral defense/counter-defense interactions.

Percentage of time 60 Duties/Responsibilities

Assisting with the daily operations of the laboratory including maintenance of phage and bacteria stocks.

Percentage of time 10 Duties/Responsibilities

Preparing manuscripts and presenting findings at conferences in coordination with the PI, for the dissemination of your findings.

Assisting with the supervision of student members of the laboratory.

Perform NIH-funded research in the area of CRISPR and anti-CRISPR biology.

Relevant/Preferred Education, Experience, Licensure, Certification In Position PhD degree in Microbiology, Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, or related fields.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities And/or Competencies PhD level competence to conduct independent research; to include knowledge of

literature, and abilities in hypothesis generation, experimental design, conducting

experiments, drawing conclusions, writing reports and manuscripts, delivering oral

presentations.
